The world's first weather modification drone successfully flies

On January 6, at Jinchang Jinchuan Airport in Gansu, China and the world's first weather-modified drone "Ganlin-I" independently developed by the aviation industry made its first flight.

The Ganlin-I taxied to take off at 15:24. During the flight, the functions of anti-icing, atmospheric detection, and catalyst spreading were normal. The system was stable and the performance met the project requirements. It landed smoothly at 16:1.

It is reported that Ganlin-I is a large-scale UAV system in the field of artificial weather modification based on the Pterosaur-2 UAV. The operation cost of artificial weather modification is low, the working time is long, and its wings have many hanging points. With large carrying capacity and strong expansion ability, it has obvious advantages compared with manned aircraft.

It has long-distance weather detection capabilities, atmospheric data collection capabilities, and precipitation enhancement catalyst sowing capabilities. It also has reliable deicing capabilities, and has the ability to operate under complex weather conditions, greatly improving the effectiveness of artificial weather influencing operations.

The Ganlin-I weather modification project is my country’s first use of large fixed-wing drones to carry out weather modification work. It fills the domestic gap and is the world’s first. It is a milestone in artificial precipitation (snow) enhancement and marks the use of drones A breakthrough has been achieved in the technology and means in the work of increasing rainfall (snow).

In the next step, the China Meteorological Administration will incorporate the "Large UAV Integrated Application System for Artificial Weather Modification" into the "14th Five-Year" Development Plan for Artificial Weather Modification, and make an overall layout.
