China's first carbon fibre cable-stayed highway bridge opened to traffic
Recently, the first carbon fibre cable-stayed highway bridge in China, the Xing Hua Road Bridge over the Tu Shi River in Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, built by CCB Eight, a subsidiary of the China Construction Group, was opened to traffic.
The bridge is located in the central area of Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, where Xinghua Road crosses the Tuixi River, and is planned and designed with the theme of "Lotus Lake". The bridge is divided into the east approach bridge, the main bridge and the west approach bridge, with a two-way six-lane design, and is a key livelihood project in Liaocheng City, the "Water City of Jiangbei".
The biggest highlight of the bridge is the use of carbon fibre material in the cable-stayed cables. Carbon fibre and its composite materials are widely used in national defence, aerospace and automobile manufacturing, and are of high strategic importance to the country. The bridge is made up of four carbon fibre cables, consisting of carbon fibres, a resin matrix and a fibre/resin interface, which are lightweight and strong enough to reduce the weight of the structure and have excellent durability and fatigue resistance.
In addition, the bridge also uses super tough concrete technology, which can be well integrated with the surface of the steel girders to reduce rigid impact and extend the service life of the bridge. The risk of fatigue cracking of the steel deck is greatly reduced.
The corrugated steel structure is the first of its kind to be used in an urban underpass in China, allowing for factory fabrication and on-site assembly, improving construction efficiency and reducing the impact on the environment and traffic, and greatly improving durability.
After the bridge is opened to traffic, it will effectively ease the traffic pressure of Dongchang Road and Guangyue Road in Liaocheng City, improve the urban transportation network system, enhance the travel efficiency of the masses, optimize the spatial layout of the city, further open up the channel between the main urban area and the development zone, which is of great significance to promote the high-quality economic and social development of Liaocheng City. The "lotus" and steel box girder bridge deck blend with each other, the bridge scenery and architectural art, the bridge at night like a blooming lotus, become a beautiful scenery of Liaocheng.
