Carbon fiber(carbon fiber reinforced plastics/CFRP) is a new material with high-strength, high-modulus and more than 95% of carbon content .
It is a micro crystalline graphite material obtained by stacking organic fibers such as flake graphite micro crystals along the axial direction of the fibers, and subjected to carbonization and graphitization treatment. Carbon fiber is a “Velvet glove”which is soft outside and inner rigid, and its mass is lighter than that of aluminum, but its strength is higher than that of steel, and it has the characteristics of corrosion resistance and high modulus. It is an important material in defense military and civil use. It not only has the inherent essential characteristics of carbon materials, but also has the soft processability of textile fibers. It is a new generation of reinforcing fibers and is more expensive.
Glass fiber(also fiberglass) is a kind of inorganic non-metallic material with excellent performance. There are many types. The advantages of glass fiber are good insulation, strong heat resistance, good corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength, but the disadvantages are brittleness and poor wear resistance. Its main components are silica, alumina, calcium oxide, boron oxide, magnesium oxide, sodium oxide, etc. According to the content of alkali in glass, it can be divided into non-alkali glass fiber, medium alkali glass fiber and high alkali glass fiber. Glass fiber is usually used as a reinforcing material in composite materials, electrical insulation materials and thermal insulation materials, circuit substrates and other fields of the national economy, and the price is cheap.
